this information collection provided that the Maritime
Administration sends a cover letter to the academies with the
assigned OMB control number displayed in the upper right-hand
corner. The letter should provide other pertinent information
including the following statement: You are not required to submit
an application, however, in order to be considered for excess or
surplus property from the Maritime Administration, you must provide
the information requested."

THE MARITIME ADMINISTRATION REQUIRES
APPROVED MARITIME TRAINING INSTITUTIONS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN
ACQUIRING EXCESS OR SURPLUS PROPER UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 46 USC
1295G TO SUBMIT A STATEMENT OF NEED IN THE FORM OF AN
APPLICATION.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
