Abstract: THE INDIGENT CRIMINAL DEFENSE PROGRAM, COURT SYSTEM, AND COUNTY SURVEY WILL PROVIDE THE FIRST NATIONALLY REPRESENTATIVE DATA, BASED ON SAMPLE REGARDING THE CHARACTERISTICS AND STRUCTURE OF INDIGENT CRIMINAL DEFEN PROGRAMS. THE DATA WILL BE USED TO HELP CREATE A COMPREHENSIVE PICTUR OF THE PROVISION OF COUNSEL EMBODIED IN THE U.S. CONSTITUTION.
