this data collection. The Department must demonstrate the need for
(1) the notice of geological and geophysical data acquisition,
initial analysis, and interpretation, and (2) the submission of
detailed geological and geophysical data at the request of the
Director. Interior must demonstrate that the specific information
collected is necessary to carry out the Department's
responsibilities and that the means with which it is collected are
the most efficient and least burdensome. 2. The burden estimates
are not justified. Burden hour and responden estimates must be
fully documented. Separate estimates are needed for the notices and
the actual data submissions.
