interested in EPA's effort to move its reliance on in-use testing
as suggested in "Actions to Help the U.S. Auto Industry." We would
like to receive progress reports on these efforts before this
clearance expires. Specifically, we would like to know how feasible
EPA feels it would be to phase out certification and SEA's in favor
of in-use testing.

DETERMINE AUTOMOBILE CONFORMITY TO CLEAN AIR ACT EMISSION
STANDARDS. THIS INFORMATION WAS REQUESTED OF EACH AUTOMOBILE
MANUFACTURER BY LETTER. IT IS ALSO USED TO DETERMINE VEHICLE
CONFIGURATIONS TO BE TESTED FOR CONFORMITY TO EMISSION STANDARDS
DURING SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT AUDITS.
