OPERATING PROCEDURES AND FACILITY AND SANITATION REQUIREMENTS FOR
PLANTS TO QUALIFY FOR THE SERVICE. THE REGULATIONS ALSO CONTAIN THE
OFFICIAL U.S. STANDARDS, GRADES, AND WEIGHT CLASSES FOR SHELL EGGS.
WHILE THE PROGRAM IS VOLUNTARY, IT IS WIDELY USED SINCE MANY OF THE
OUTLETS FOR SHELL EGGS REQUIRE THAT THE PRODUCT BE OFFICIALLY
GRADED FOR QUALITY
