THE MASTER, OWNER OR AGENT OF A VESSEL OF THE U.S. TO REPORT MARINE
CASUALTIES AND ACCIDENTS. THE COAST GUARD IS REQUIRED TO
INVESTIGATE MARINE CASUALTIES AND ACCIDENTS BY 46 U.S.C. 239. THE
FORM CG-2692 IS REQUIRED BY 46 CFR 4.05-10 TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE
COAST GUARD IN ORDER TO FACILITATE REPORTING OF THE CASUALTY OR
ACCIDENT REQUIRED BY 33 U.S.C. 361, 362 AND 365. A BYPRODUCT OF
THIS SYSTEM IS VESSEL CASUALTY AND ACCIDENT STATISTICS
