49 CFR 394.9 REQUIRES MOTOR CARRIERS
TO FILE ACCIDENT REPORTS WHEN AN OCCURRENCE MEETS THE DEFINITION OF
A "REPORTABLE ACCIDENT" (49 CFR 394.3). REPORTS ARE USED TO MONITOR
THE SAFETY POSTURE OF MOTOR CARRIES AND IDENTIFY ACCIDENT TRENDS,
DEVELOP INCIDENCE RATES AND CASUAL FACTORS WHICH CAN BE USED IN OUR
REGULATORY PROGRAM. (REPORTING REQUIREMENT)
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
