Abstract: TITLE V OF THE MERCHANT MARINE ACT, 1936, AS AMENDED AUTHORIZES THE MARITIME ADMINISTRATION TO PAY CONSTRUCTION-DIFFERENTIAL SUBSIDY QUALIFIED U.S. SHIPBUILDERS OR OPERATORS TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE THE COST DISPARITY WHICH EXISTS BETWEEN U.S. AND FOREIGN SHIPBUILDING PRICES.
